The unexpected cost of waiting to join LTL ⏰ 👀

Happy Monday, Interior Designers and eager entrepreneurs!

Tomorrow is your last chance to join this quarter's session of Lead to Launch, so today I want to share something that might surprise you:

The Biggest Frustration Students Face in Lead to Launch

It's not the homework.

It's not finding time for class.

It's not changing their systems.

It's impatience with the projects they had already said "yes" to before taking the course.😂

Here's what I mean.

As students begin implementing what they're learning, I start getting messages like:

"OMG I just signed my biggest project ever!" — B. in Portland
"They signed my new design agreement and didn't blink an eye at the price!" — D. in Seattle
"This new consult process is like magic. They just signed, and the scope is twice as involved as I expected—and so is the design fee!" — A. in Charlotte

As you would expect, these designers are THRILLED!

What you might NOT EXPECT is that they are also ANNOYED. Because suddenly they're working with two completely different kinds of clients at the same time.

The Contrast Becomes Impossible to Ignore

Their new clients:

  • Respond thoughtfully to emails
  • Make decisions efficiently
  • Respect boundaries
  • Trust the process

Meanwhile, their existing clients are still:

  • Texting at 10:47 PM to ask, "What about this?"
  • Sending new Pinterest photos every three days
  • Reopening decisions everyone already agreed on weeks ago

One project moves forward. 🙌

The other feels like two steps forward, one step back, and three steps sideways. 😩

Once designers see what a well-onboarded client looks like, they become much less tolerant of poorly onboarded projects. 😆

And that's when I start getting questions like:

"How Do I Reset Expectations With Projects I'm Already Working On?"

Honestly? That's a great problem to have.

It means you can finally see how much influence you have over the client experience. 🙌

Not because the "difficult" clients were bad people, but because they weren't given the structure, expectations, and confidence they needed at the beginning of the relationship.

That's what Lead to Launch changes. 🚀

It helps you create a client experience that builds trust, reduces uncertainty, and makes it easier for clients to be the kind of clients you always hoped they would be.

Of course, it’s natural for there to be a transition period between building better systems and having all of your projects operating within those systems. That’s why the program includes 3 private coaching sessions after the course ends, with the chance to win a fourth! 🤩

That means that you get up to $1200 of private coaching included with your Lead to Launch tuition - the real secret sauce behind effective program implementation!

The Only Real Cost of Waiting

The cost of waiting isn't lost revenue. You might attract exactly the same number of clients after the program as before.

It's spending another four months working with clients who make your job harder than it needs to be, and continuing to onboard clients without the systems that would help them succeed.

You don't have to do this work until you're ready.

But if more than half your clients regularly create confusion, second-guess decisions, ignore boundaries, or struggle to trust your expertise, then you're leaving too much of your project success up to chance.

You're hoping projects go well instead of intentionally creating the conditions that help them go well. 😑

And that affects more than your stress levels. It affects your clients' experience too.

Because client happiness isn't just about delivering a beautiful design, it's about meeting expectations, building trust, and helping clients feel confident throughout the process.

Which is really hard to do when expectations were never clearly established in the first place.

So yes, the cost of waiting is "just" that you'll continue dealing with frustrating projects a little longer than necessary. Which sounds small until you're staring at another late-night email asking to revisit a decision everyone already made three weeks ago. 😂

If you've known for a while that your onboarding process needs attention, it's worth asking whether waiting another four months serves you—or merely postpones a problem you're eventually going to solve anyway.

Because we both know you're going to have to deal with this eventually.

The only question is when. 😉

Lead to Launch begins in just 7 days, and enrollment closes Wednesday.

If you're ready, I'd love to help. Schedule a quick placement chat here.

Well, hello there — have we met?

I’m Rebecca West. I help residential interior designers feel seriously confident about their marketing, sales, and client onboarding.

Everything I teach comes from running my firm, Seriously Happy Homes, for 17 years. Between 2007 and 2023, my team and I helped over 2,000 clients transform their small, tired houses into happy homes. 💛 Our work, and my book Happy Starts at Home, was featured on TV’s New Day, in The Wall Street Journal, Live Happy Magazine, Success Magazine, & beyond!

Then, in 2023, I closed my design studio and moved to Paris, and, a couple of years later, to the south of France. ( 🤩 !! )

As a coach, consultant, and gal-who's-been-there, I'm here to help the next generation of creative, hardworking, detail-oriented interior designers get found, get great clients, and get paid like a pro!

Happy Thursday, Designers & Savvy Service Providers! Let's adapt Tuesday's reveal for your brand! On Tuesday, I shared how Josepha adapted her message for contractors without abandoning the heart of her brand. Her homeowner-facing message is: Find Your Bold. Her contractor-facing message is: Bold decisions. Buildable designs.Design support that keeps remodels moving. Different words. Same business. And that is the point. Your message can change outfits. It just should not change...

Happy Tuesday, Designers & Savvy Service Providers! Let’s talk taglines. A few simple words, meant to capture the heart of your brand. They can take ages to find and refine, and once you finally discover language that explains what makes your business different, it's tempting to treat those words like they've been carved into a stone tablet. This is the tagline. We shall use it forever. Nobody touch anything. But clear messaging does not mean repeating the exact same sentence to every...

Happy Thursday Designers and Creative Entrepreneurs, On Tuesday I gave you a quick test: Copy the titles of your last 10 blog posts into ChatGPT and ask what your business does, who you help, and what problems you solve. Today, I’m showing you what happened when I ran that test on two real interior design blogs. And spoiler: both designers were doing smart things, but in very different ways. One designer’s blog titles made her location and service lane crystal clear. The other designer’s...
