Would three different people describe your value the same way? 🤔

Happy Thursday, Designers & Savvy Service Providers!

Let's adapt Tuesday's reveal for your brand!

On Tuesday, I shared how Josepha adapted her message for contractors without abandoning the heart of her brand.

Her homeowner-facing message is:

Find Your Bold.

Her contractor-facing message is:

Bold decisions. Buildable designs.

Design support that keeps remodels moving.

Different words. Same business.

And that is the point.

Your message can change outfits. It just should not change personalities.

So here is a quick exercise for you today:

Finish these three sentences.

  • My ideal homeowner is relieved to find me because…
  • A contractor is relieved to refer me because…
  • A realtor, architect, or past client is relieved to recommend me because…

Your answers probably should not be identical.

A homeowner may care most about feeling understood, avoiding expensive mistakes, or finally creating a home that feels like them.

A contractor may care about timely selections, clear documentation, and fewer design questions holding up the project.

A referral partner may care about knowing their client will be well taken care of—and that referring you will make them look smart. 😄

The language changes because the audience changes.

But your central value should still be recognizable in every answer.

If the three responses sound like completely different companies, your message may not need more polish. It may need a clearer foundation.

That foundation is what helps you write your website, introduce yourself at a networking event, create a contractor flyer, and explain your business without reinventing the wheel every time you open your mouth to explain your services.

I broke down Josepha’s example—and the four questions you can use to adapt your own message—in this new article:

How to Adapt Your Interior Design Message for Homeowners, Contractors, and Referral Partners Without Losing Your Brand

And yes, this is exactly the kind of work we do in Nail Your Niche.

We clarify what makes your business distinct, shape the central message behind it, and turn that clarity into practical marketing language you can actually use.

The next class begins September 14, and your private marketing audit can begin as soon as you enroll. Links are below. 🙂

You've got this.

And if you need help, you know where to find me.

Enrollment is open for Nail Your Niche. 💪

Josepha told me that the differentiators she developed in Nail Your Niche—her geography, personality, luxury level, service structure, and aesthetic point of view—have become anchors she can return to whenever her thoughts start swirling.

And the one-page flyer she created during the program?

It helped her land her biggest client to date. Wahoo! 🙌

The next two-week class begins September 14. The earlier you enroll, the more support you receive: place your deposit, and we’ll schedule your private marketing audit so you can begin clarifying your message right away.

Happy Tuesday, Designers & Savvy Service Providers! Let’s talk taglines. A few simple words, meant to capture the heart of your brand. They can take ages to find and refine, and once you finally discover language that explains what makes your business different, it's tempting to treat those words like they've been carved into a stone tablet. This is the tagline. We shall use it forever. Nobody touch anything. But clear messaging does not mean repeating the exact same sentence to every...

Happy Thursday Designers and Creative Entrepreneurs, On Tuesday I gave you a quick test: Copy the titles of your last 10 blog posts into ChatGPT and ask what your business does, who you help, and what problems you solve. Today, I’m showing you what happened when I ran that test on two real interior design blogs. And spoiler: both designers were doing smart things, but in very different ways. One designer’s blog titles made her location and service lane crystal clear. The other designer’s...

Happy Tuesday Interior Designers and Ambitious Entrepreneurs, I'm gonna keep this short because this is important: Your blogs matter. Not just because people might read them, but because: They Help You Get Found. And these days, that does not only mean humans searching Google. It also means humans using AI tools to help them find the right designer. Of course, that only works if you are strategic not just about what you write, but also how you title your blogs. A strong blog title should make...
